The Alexander String Quartet has had the privilege of working with many outstanding young chamber music ensembles this past week during the Yehudi Menuhin Chamber Music Seminar and Festival – and the joy continues with Sunday’s Music at Kohl Mansion performance. One of these ensembles is the Verbena Quintet, which performed at Yehudi Menuhin Seminar during a masterclass with the Alexander String Quartet and will be performing a brief “Overture Performance” at Kohl Mansion on Sunday, February 10 at 6:40 pm, just prior to the ASQ’s concert featuring guest violist Toby Appel. The Verbena musicians are: Inga Liu & Freya Liu (violins), Clara Chan & Emily Liu (violas), and Irene Jeong (cello).
About the Young Chamber Musicians organization:
Young Chamber Musicians offers unique chamber music training experiences for string players and pianists ages 14-20. Based on the vision that the study of chamber music is essential to a musician’s development, YCM students enjoy a rare exposure to renowned performing artists from the Music at Kohl Mansion presenting series. Through coaching, master classes, concert attendance and frequent student performance, YCM students emmerse themselves in chamber music as participants and listeners, gaining inspiration, skill and artistry. The Program is lead by Susan Bates, violist and noted chamber music coach; recipient of the 1992 award for “Excellence in Chamber Music Training” from Chamber Music America.
